Vern Mitchell

Vern B. Mitchell, 98, of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Park Place Care Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Crysler Restoration Branch Building Fund. Vern was born April 25, 1909 in Rulo, NE to Thomas and Salina (Sutton) Mitchell. He was a member of the South Crysler Restoration Branch Church where he was a Deacon in the Priesthood. Vern lived for his family and church. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing in his spare time. Vern is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary (Mikes) Mitchell; daughter Sharon Walker and husband Jerry ; son Robert “Bob” Mitchell and wife Kay; grandchildren Gary Walker, Tracee Ryan, Heather Mitchell-Hamm; great-grandchildren Joshua and Rebekah Ryan, Spencer and Melanie Walker, Jordan Hamm; great-great-grandson Damon Smith; sisters Orpha Groves, Imogene Reinhart; brothers Paul and Jim Mitchell; by a host of nieces and nephews.
