Gary Wayne Moerschel

Gary Moerschel, 65, of Independence, MO left us on March 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. memorial service on Tuesday, April 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. Gary was a good man. He had a hard exterior but was soft inside. Anyone who was able to look past his gruffness was blessed with knowing a complex man who showed his love through actions and loving remarks, disguised as sarcasm. Gary had no filter, was true to himself, and has left a massive hole in our worlds where his robustness once lived. Gary always said, “If I’d have known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.” But, he lived a full life and had mountains of experiences his family and friends will treasure. As a young man, he loved canoeing and was a Red Cross instructor. He most loved traveling with his wife Donna, riding his Harley, going to Chiefs games, fishing, his Scotties Jimmy and Jack, telling stories (which were plentiful and always very animated) and his creature comforts. Gary enjoyed camping and was famous for his “Gary Cherry Pies” that he’d make on the campfire. No one really liked them, but gobbled them up anyway, because it made him happy.
