Douglas Roy “Doug” Monasmith, a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 22, 2021. Doug was born on December 31, 1969 in Independence, Missouri.
As a young boy Doug developed a fascination for trucks. After graduating from Fort Osage in 1988 Doug took off and began his 30 year career driving. He was an organizer for the Teamsters Union as well. Doug was an entertainer. His quick wit and zest for life made people gravitate towards him for comic relief. Doug made everything fun. He enjoyed food, bonfires and sitting around the pond with his brother David, just in case a fishing pole was needed. Doug was a persuasive man and always seemed to have a way of proving “his way was the right way” in most of the things he did. He was a man of GREAT FAITH. Doug never hesitated to share his love for our Lord with others. He always made sure his family was taken care of and took on the role of step-father to his bonus children with open arms. He will be missed beyond measure.
Doug is survived by his mother, Sondra Monasmith, his beloved wife, Cynthia Monasmith; daughter, Britney Monasmith; granddaughters Bentli and Brooklynn Monasmith, bonus children, Sean Huddleston, Erin Huddleston, Erika Kuntze, John Kuntze, Carrera Kuntze and Robert “Bobby Kuntze, brother
David Monasmith (Michelle); cousin, Darrell DeLap; sister, Paula Curry (Bill); step-sisters, Loretta Rockwell (Bill) , Donna Bowden (Roger) and uncle and aunt Darrell and Sue DeLap.
He was preceded by his father, James Monasmith and grandparents, George and Dora DeLap.
