Ro Mongeon, a proud veteran who loved his country, family and church, passed away on January 5, 2022. He was 93 years old. Ro was born on November 9, 1928 in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Frederick Mongeon, Sr. and Leona Mongeon. He graduated from Sutton High School in Sutton, MA in 1946. Ro then went on to join the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for over 5 years. On April 23, 1952, he married Dolores Ann Belford and had 3 children: Ronald, Michael and Susan. He will be dearly missed by his loving companion of 22 years, Roz Vonstrough. Ro was a loving husband, father, and friend. He worked for AT&T for over 34 dedicated years as a sales support manager. In his spare time, Ro was very active at his church, and was involved with 3 different ministries at St. Mark Church. He also volunteered with Sisters of St. Francis for 10 years. Ro enjoyed anything outdoors, from boating to fishing, but Ro loved gardening out in his yard the most, and he was known to have the best yard on the block. For many years, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children, Ronald Mongeon, Michael (Janet) Mongeon and Susan Mongeon; companion, Roz Vonstrough; grandchildren, Leslie Potter, Danielle (Jason) Mongeon Farabee, and Michael (Lindsay) Mongeon; and great-granddaughter, Molly Mongeon. .
He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 47 years, Dolores Ann Mongeon; parents, Frederick Mongeon, Sr. and Leona Mongeon; and 8 siblings.
A memorial visitation to honor Ro will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 9-11:00 a.m., with a memorial mass to follow, at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Mark Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee's Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055. Ro will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
