Bonnie Mae Monheiser (Kinzie)

Bonnie Kinzie Monheiser passed away on November 27, 2021 in Independence, Missouri at the age of 88.

She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Monheiser who passed away in August 2019.

Bonnie was born on March 8, 1933 in Fleming, Colorado to her father Albert Kinzie and her mother Cora Kinzie. Bonnie also had a stepmother named Dorothy Kinzie.

She graduated from Haxtun High School in Haxtun, Colorado. Bonnie was one of nine children to Albert and Cora Kinzie. She had three brothers (Albert “Bud” Kinzie Jr, Gus Kinzie, and Ora Kinzie) and five sisters (Dororthy Crees, Mildred Egelhoff, Betty Flynn, Lois Warnsman, and Inez Plank).

Bonnie’s first marriage was to Donald Waldmann. Together they had three children: Mark Monheiser, Randi Barelmann, and Yvonne Acree. Bonnie married Raymond Monheiser in 1966 and together the family moved to Blue Springs, Missouri in 1972. They had one daughter: Ami Jenkins.

Those who knew Bonnie knew how much family meant to her. The holidays were a special time at the Monheiser house, especially Easter and Christmas as she was a devout Catholic. Their home was a warm place where multiple generations gathered to build cherished memories - often over her famous chicken noodle soup or French dip. As her family grew to grandchildren and then great-grandchildren, she occupied much of her free time by watching her grandkids on the basketball court or the football field when she wasn’t serving as an office administrator at her son Mark’s dentist practice. Bonnie was an avid country music fan and enjoyed playing bass guitar and singing in a country band as a young adult. She would say her greatest accomplishment in life was building a happy home. Bonnie had 10 grandchildren (Aden Monheiser, Jenna Ringwood, Evan Monheiser, Kara Gregory, Kayla Barelmann, Brandon Barelmann, Kelsi Johnson, Kolbie Acree, Hunter Jenkins, and Ty Jenkins) and six great-grandchildren (Mia Monheiser, Tenley Monheiser, Haddi Ringwood, Henry Ringwood, Oliver Gregory, and Margo Gregory). Our Bonnie will spend eternity next to her Raymond, where she belongs. We’ll always have the memories of surprise Christmas presents in the basement, neighborhood-wide Easter egg hunts, and the look of pride she always had while she watched countless games from the bleachers. Her memory lives on in our hearts forever.

A Visitation will take place Tuesday, December 7, 2021, family will greet guest between 1:30 - 2:00 pm, with Mass to follow at 2:00 pm, both to be held at St. Robert Bellarmine, 4313 MO-7, Blue Springs, Missouri 64014. Interment to follow after Mass and Bonnie will be laid to rest in Blue Springs Cemetery.
