Judith Ann Monteith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister was called to her heavenly home on February 17, 2021 at the age of 73.
Judy, as she was known, was born on January 22, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ to Ralph Joseph Ravert and Grace Pearl (Kline) Ravert. She was raised in the South Jersey and Pennsylvania regions and graduated from Sterling High School in Somerdale, NJ. At a church function, she happened to meet a man who stole her heart – she and James “Jim” Monteith married on March 18, 1966. They became the proud parents of two sons: Jeffrey and Brian.
While Jim worked as a New Jersey State Trooper, Judy focused on being the best mother and homemaker she could be. As a woman of abundant faith, she participated in any church meal, event, fundraiser, social, or volunteer opportunity that came up. As years went on, she and Jim somewhat spontaneously found themselves living in Maui for two years. After Maui, they relocated to North Carolina for 17 years and had been residents of the Independence area for the past three years.
Judy’s heart was full of love for family and the Lord. She never had a harsh word to say about anyone, she was always there for others even in her own time of need and took the time to spread random acts of kindness to others. She truly enjoyed being of service to others, and to ensure their needs were met. Her generous, compassionate spirit will be deeply missed; however, her spirit will forever live within our hearts.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 54 years, Jim; son Jeffrey Monteith and his wife Consuela (Kissling) Monteith and their children, Tristan (20) and Mason (18); son Brian Monteith and wife Shannon (Murray) Monteith and their children, Ryan (18) and Sean (16); brother Larry Ravert and his wife Cathy Ravert and their children Steven and Wesley; sister-in-law Melody Ravert and her daughter Stephanie Ravert; brother-in-law Joseph Cataldi, and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Grace Ravert, her brother Timothy Ravert, her brother-in-law Clem (Sonny) Monteith; her sister-in-law Jacki (Hannigan) Cataldi.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey for friends and family back east. In memory of Judy, consider making contributions to your local church. Isaiah 41:13
