Michael Moon

Michael R. Moon, 69, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs, Missouri, surrounded by family. He was born November 4, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. He grew up in Guymon, Oklahoma and graduated from Liberal High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-66 and worked as a machinist on the USS Norris. He was employed by Yellow Freight Systems for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Moon. He is survived by his mother Billie Reynolds of Lee's Summit, Missouri; his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Moon of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughter, Michelle Herrold, husband Jack, and children Nicholas, Eleanor, and Claire of Overland Park, Kansas; son, Jamie Moon, wife Andrea, and children Chance, Truman, Andrew, and Mary of Independence, Missouri. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055.
