Teresa Norine Mooney Horton

Teresa Norine (Mooney) Horton, 90 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Rosewood Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S Lee's Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until service time Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Groves Community Hospice. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Teresa was born July 6, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to William J. and Blanche (Scott) Mooney. She has been a lifelong area resident graduating from St. Aloysius School. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. She had worked at Montgomery Wards for a number of years before she retired in 1987 as a manager. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid KC Royals and Chiefs fan. Survivors include; a son, Jim Horton and wife Claudia of Lee’s Summit, MO; a daughter, Kathryn Horton of Leon, KS; 4 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Robert L. Horton, Jr. in February 2016.
