Colt Allan Morgan, age 7, and Copper Lee Morgan, age 6, passed away on May 29, 2020.
Colt was born on December 28, 2012, in Mesa, AZ, the oldest son of Mavrik Morgan and Dana Pickering. A little over a year later, on January 8, 2014, Colt became the big brother to Copper Lee Morgan.
From the very beginning, Colt was outdoorsy and active. He could often be found outside tinkering, playing with tools, stacking wood, riding on the lawnmower with his grandpa, or playing soccer as a goalie. He was a first-grade student at Indian Trails Elementary School. He enjoyed the usual foods like burgers, pizza, and mac and cheese, but he also loved eating fruits and vegetables, especially when he could pick them himself. He loved the movies “Titanic” and “The Incredibles.” He was fascinated with animals, especially toads and snakes. He will be remembered as being fearless, helpful, and creative.
Copper idolized his big brother, and always wanted to be a part of Colt’s activities. He was the best sidekick, except when it came to getting into trouble – Copper always gave all the credit (blame) to Colt. He was the affectionate snuggle-bug, and that could have something to do with the fact that he just didn’t like to be chilly. When it came to playing soccer, he preferred to not adhere to any position, except one who chased butterflies and ate snacks. Although just a kindergartener, he was a master at making and executing plans, to the exact detail, and was excellent at proving his case. Like Colt, he also loved outdoor activities like climbing trees, playing in the mud or the water, planting seeds in the garden, and feeding the neighbor’s goats. When it came time to refuel, he indulged in nuggets, fresh-picked produce, and spicy foods.
Colt and Copper are survived by their mom and dad, Mavrik Morgan and Dana Pickering; maternal grandma Barbara Mangers; great-grandparents Terry & Terry Pickering; half-brother Arthur Ray Wing; aunts & uncles Justin & Brittany Pickering, Dustin & Amanda Pickering, Goldie & Steve Bishop, and Liz Mangers; and cousins Jameson Pickering, Xavier Sturgis, Jackson Pickering, Shelby Pickering, Elleyna Bishop, and Kylie Wilkening.
They were preceded in death by their maternal grandpa Austin Pickering.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2-3pm on Sunday, June 7, with a Celebration of Life serivice to follow at 3pm, both at Atherton Restoration Branch, 4910 N Main St, Independence, MO 64058.
