Elmer Lloyd "Lucky� Morgan
Elmer Lloyd "Lucky� Morgan, 82, of Independence, died December 16, 2006 at The Groves. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Lucky will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was fun loving and enjoyed helping others.
Elmer was born in Harbor Beach Michigan on September 30, 1924 the son of Marvin S. and Clara Pearl (Kitchen) Morgan. He served in the U.S. Army/Air Force during World War II as a flight engineer. He was a retired Fireman for the Independence Fire Department for 25 years and was an Insurance Agent. He was a member of Fireman�s Local #781.
He was a member of the Eden Heights RLDS Church and currently attend the New Walnut Park Community of Christ Church. Lucky served as a minister from 1947 and as an Elder since 1951. He and his wife helped with the first junior camp at Lake Doniphan. While his health permitted he was an active volunteer for the Community of Christ Temple.
He married Ruby F. Lesh at Eden Heights on April 22, 1945. Theirs was the first wedding to be held at the church. She survives. He is also survived by seven children: Kathleen "Kitty� Moore and husband Willie of Independence, Mo., Venda Hunter and husband Barre of Oak Grove, Mo., Norma Sinclair of Silver Spring, Maryland, Patricia Church and husband David of Lee�s Summit, Mo., Bill Morgan and wife Linda of Sibley, Mo., David Morgan and wife Connie of Independence, Mo., Michelle Phillips and husband David of Lee�s Summit, Mo., 23 grandchildren and their spouses and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Laura Hockaday and Velma Rice and two brothers, Clarence and Stanley Morgan and a sister-in-law, Virginia Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elwyn and Calvin Morgan.
