Virginia Lee Morris (Owens)

February 19, 1933 — August 18, 2017

Virginia Morris, 84, of Independence, MO passed away August 18, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am Thursday, August 24, 2017 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Entombment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO. Virginia was born on February 19, 1933 in Dodge City, KS to George and Martina (Peters) Owens. She was not only a member of St. Ann’s, she also worked in their Day Care Center. Virginia loved to cook, and made the best potato salad and brownies around! She enjoyed it so much she would even dance around the kitchen while cooking. She also enjoyed tending to the flowers in her gardens. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren and doted on them all. Survivors include; daughter Rose Rathmann and her husband Dennis; son Robert Morris; son Donald Morris; son Kerry Morris; daughter Georgia Hurt and her husband Lonnie; son James Morris; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 5great great grandchildren; brothers Larry Owens and Gerald Owens; sister Linda Peters; a very large extended family and many friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean Morris, daughter Vickey Morris, grandson Robert Morris, and brother Edward Owens.
