George John Morrison
George John Morrison, 87, of Independence, died October 2, 2006 at MCI Hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Nativity of Mary Church with a Parish Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Morrison was born in Moline, Illinois on September 3, 1919 the son of George D. and Etta M. (Clark) Morrison. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II from 1940 to 1945. He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa. George will be remembered as a handy man who enjoyed working in heating/airconditioning, woodworking, and playing cards and games with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Nativity of Mary Church since 1966. On August 2, 1941 he married Evelyn L. Scharig and she survives him of the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Sandy Littler and her husband Darrell of Belton, Mo., two granddaughters, Dana Wood and husband Chris of Savage, Minnesota and Nicole Littler of Kansas City, Mo. and two great granddaughters, Alyssa and Kendra Wood.
