Rick was born in Kansas City, MO to John Edward (Jack) Morrison and Katherine Jean Evans Morrison on May 5,1948. He grew up in Eastwood Hills with his older brother Doug and younger brother Kurt. Rick often reflected on the many wonderful memories of growing up with his brothers, spending time with family and his many good friends in the neighborhood. Rick was a member of Eastwood Hills Boy Scout Troop 284 earning the rank of Eagle Scout and Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He also enjoyed several years playing with his brothers and friends as an original member of the Green Apples softball team.
He was a proud Raytown South Cardinal, attended Raytown South Jr. and Sr. High Schools where he was elected Class President his junior and senior years. Rick was ever a charmer, which served him well in life, especially effective during his school years, where he was always a good student, but certainly enjoyed having as much fun as possible.
Rick graduated from UMKC School of Law and shortly thereafter passed the Missouri Bar exam in 1973. Rick practiced law in Kansas City, MO until a stroke in 1999 greatly diminished his ability to continue his full time practice. After a long hospitalization including rehab, he resumed his life, practicing law part-time from home until 2011. Rick always faced his limitations with grace and acceptance. His perseverance was admirable. We all miss his smile and infectious laugh.
Rick is survived by wife Valerie Morrison, their son Ben Morrison (Thanh), and Rick's sons Sam Morrison and Jack Morrison; his brothers Doug Morrison (Joy) and Kurt Morrison, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick was an avid sports fan, collecting memorabilia for most of his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy, 1622 E. 17th Terrace, KC, MO 64108 or a charity of your choice.
