Gary was born January 15, 1962 in Atchison, Kansas to Gary and Jerene (Grinlinton) Moxley. When Gary was young his mother Jerene passed and his father remarried to Diana, whom Gary lovingly referred to as Mom. He attended Atchison High School then went on to Missouri Western University and earned his bachelor’s in technical engineering. In college Gary met the love of his life and his very best friend, Kathy Ploeger. Unbeknownst to them at the time, Gary and Kathy’s lives crossed path years back in their summer of 3rd grade at church camp. Gary and Kathy were married in June of 1984 and are blessed to be the parents to 4 beautiful girls, Sara, Jenny, Audrey and Sydney. Gary adored all his girls, they and Kathy had his whole heart. While Gary doated on his girls he had an open-door policy and welcomed others into their home with unconditional love. He was a father figure to many and for the last 20 years he and Kathy welcomed numerous exchange students from around the world into their home. He loved each of them as his own.
Gary had a true heart of a servant and would do anything to help others. Gary had great faith and would often ask the Lord to put him where he was needed. He would never question his placement but roll up his sleeves and help where he was able. He served on countless mission trips to Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and in the US. He deeply impacted countless individuals, many we will never know, by leading them to faith in Christ or providing strength along their faith journey. He was a go getter, with a wonderful since of humour, always making those around him comfortable and filled with joy. Gary loved the outdoors. He loved boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, or just sitting and enjoying the nature of the Lord’s creation. He loved to travel the world with Kathy and made beautiful memories everywhere they went. Gary treasured his time with family and being a grandfather. He enjoyed rolling on the floor, taking walks, and feeding the babies too much dessert. When he was with his grandchildren, he was full of happiness.
Gary is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathy; daughters, Sara (Matt) Bartimus, Jenny (Ben Burwell) Wells, Audrey (Jeff) Wallace, Sydney (Brent) Henderson; Grandchildren, Joseph and Anna Bartimus, Parker Wallace, Baby Henderson, and Baby Bartimus; siblings, nieces, nephew and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Gary Dean Moxley, Sr., Jerene (Grinlinton) Moxley, and Diana Moxley.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to be made in Gary’s honor to
