Georgia Mueller, 68, of Belton, MO passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A visitation will be from 1-2pm prior to the service.
Georgia was born on July 22, 1949 in Independence, MO to George and Margaret (Leach) Shiffer. She graduated from Van Horn High School then went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Fine Art at Kansas City Art Institute and Master’s in Fine Art from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Georgia enjoyed art. She was a talented artist who worked with oil and pastels and she loved sharing her passion for art through teaching at Avila University. She also enjoyed the outdoors: bird watching, bicycling, hiking. Most of all, Georgia loved her family, especially her grandkids.
Her memory will live on in the lives of her daughters Kathryn Gaherty and husband Michael of Lee’s Summit, MO, Lauren Ackerman and husband Paul of Olathe, KS; grandkids Georgia Ackerman and Colin Gaherty; her in-laws Shirley Snider, Ray and Carole Mueller, Regina and Joe Gonzales, Roberta and Rick Boitnott, Ron Mueller; plus many nieces, nephews, other extended family members, friends, and students that she has inspired over the years.
She was preceded in death by her brother William Shiffer, husband Stephen Mueller, mother and father-in-law Joe and Shirley Mueller, sister-in-law Sondra Mueller, and her parents.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
