Bernadette Mullendore, 64, of Swisher, IA, formerly of Sugar Creek, MO, passed away Monday, May 22, 2006 at the University of Iowa Medical Center surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2006 at St. Cyril�s Catholic Church in Sugar Creek, MO; burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, MO where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Bernadette was born May 22, 1942 in Sugar Creek to John J. Kroll and Barbara (Bernadich) Kroll. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lawrence Mullendore; two sons Randal and Scott; and four grandchildren. Also surviving Bernadette is her sister Barbara (Kroll) Dime and her aunt Mildred ("Milka�) Bernadich. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Kroll, Jr. Bernie was a devoted wife, loving mother, a faithful Catholic and member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Born and raised in Sugar Creek, Bernie raised her children in Columbia, IL. She and Larry have lived in Cedar Rapids for the past 16 years. While raising her boys, Bernie owned and operated a family business. Upon moving to Cedar Rapids, she continued her career as an Administrator with the Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children.
