Chester “Sonny” Earl Mullinix, Jr., 77, passed away on March 21, 2017. Cremation is planned and a private memorial service will take place at a later date.
Sonny was born in Independence, MO on Valentine’s Day, 1940, to Chester and Ruby (Newberry) Mullinix. He attended William Chrisman High School and worked for the City of Independence in the Parks Department as well as the street cleaning and maintenance department. He had a passion for motorcycles, cars, and trucks, and always kept them in shining, immaculate condition! He also enjoyed metal detecting and tinkering with other gadgets. He was a private person, but really enjoyed the company of his family.
He is survived by his sister, Sheila Mullinix; nieces Sara Alt and Leeann Neil; nephew, James Stallcup; and great-nephews Cody Keeble, Dalton Keeble, Teagan Alt, and great-niece Stella Alt; and two great-nephews in California. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nita Stallcup.
