Elmer B. Multhaupt, 89 of Independence, formerly of Buckner, MO passed away Sat. Oct 29, 2005 at the Kindred Hospital in Kansas City. Services will be 1:30 pm, Wed. Nov. 2, 2005 at the Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner, MO. . Burial in Buckner Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to St. Luke�s United Church of Christ, 727 N. Main, Indep. MO 64050. Mr. Multhaupt was born on Feb. 29, 1916 to Florence and Martha (Wulff) Multhaupt in Wellington, MO. He had been an Assemblyman at the General Motors Leeds Plant and retired in 1979. He had also been a farmer and cattleman in the Buckner area for many years. Elmer was a WWII Army Veteran and had received the Purple Heart for wounds he received on Normandy Beach. He was a member of the VFW and the Disable American Veterans. He had been an active member of St. Luke�s United Church of Christ since 1929. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Minnie, a brother, Wilbert and an infant sister. He is survived by a brother, Edward Multhaupt of Independence, a stepson, Bill Masterson of Buckner. One step daughter, Marlene McPhail of Independence, ten step grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren, numerous step great great grandchildren and by his dog, Peanuts.
