Aaron Gerald Mundy, 79, Independence passed away to be with our heavenly Father Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Liberty Memorial Hospital in Liberty, Missouri. Aaron was born June 18, 1930 near Alva in Winchester, Oklahoma. His parents moved several times and settled in Alva, Oklahoma. He lived on a farm just outside of Alva then later moved in town to a house his dad built and graduated from Alva High School in 1949. He worked with his father in construction until he was called to the Army in January 1952 where he was assigned to a Medical Battalion in Bingham, Germany until he was honorably discharged in January 1954. During his tour he corresponded with Frances Painter who he married in July 1954 in Caney, Kansas. They made their home in Grand Junction, Colorado where their first of two sons was born in 1958. They moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1959 where they lived when their second son was born in 1966. In 1968 he brought his family to settle Independence, Missouri where he became a co-owner of Munlake Construction. He was lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (later becoming the Church of Jesus Christ) and was an ordained minister since July 1956. He began retirement in 1990. In 2002 he embarked on a two-week missionary trip to Eastern Europe with his brother. He was preceded in death by his father Aaron B. Mundy who passed away on December 18, 1965, and mother Alberta R. Johnson Mundy who passed away on February 12, 1999, a still born brother Larry Allen in 1954. His survivors include his wife Frances Mundy, two sons and daughter in law of Independence, Terry & Sharon Mundy and Kevin Mundy, a half brother and sister in law, Harold D. & Dorothy Mundy of Austin, Arkansas, two brother and sister in laws William (Bill) H. & Jo Ann Mundy of Powell, Wyoming, and John L. & Polly Mundy of Independence, Missouri, two sisters and brother in laws, Alberta P. & Eldon Cunningham of Boone, Iowa and Beverly J. & Marshall Brooker of Independence, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. A visitation will take place from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the Church of Jesus Christ, Farview Restoration Branch at 24th and Vermont in Independence, Missouri. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence.
