Helen Vinita (Rush) Myers, 88, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 PM Wednesday July 15 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO with services to begin at 2:30 PM. Private family graveside services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blue Ridge United Methodist Church, 5055 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.
Helen was born Jan. 19, 1921 to Earl and Grace (File) Rush. She graduated from Northeast High School and attended Kansas City Junior College, Park College, and the University of Missouri, obtaining her education degree. She taught for the Kansas City, MO school district for 38 years prior to her retirement. On Feb. 11, 1945 Helen married William H. Myers and together raised three daughters. She was a faithful member of Blue Ridge United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the builders Sunday School class. In her free time, Helen enjoyed painting, reading and traveling, but most of all she cherished her family.
Helen is survived by her husband of 64 years, William “Bill” Myers; daughters and their families: Debbie and Terry Robb and children Kristina and Sam, Susan and Gary Kensinger and children Jeff and Justin, Nancy and Warren Brown and children Michael, Amanda, and Mallory, and Jane Ann Myers.
