Edna F. Neely, 71, of Independence, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2003 at The Rosewood Health Center. Memorial Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday July 2, 2003 at George C. Carsons and Sons Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to Northcare Hospice. Edna was born September 30, 1931 to William and Edna Shepard, in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from East High School in 1948. She married Morris Neely, Jr. in 1949. Mrs. Neely was a member of the Pioneers. She enjoyed traveling, gambling and was an avid bowler. Edna also was a bowling coach and spent many hours as a volunteer for the local schools. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Neely, Jr., and two daughters, Terry Phillips, and Geri Neely. Mrs. Neely is survived by her daughter, Lisa Covert, and her husband Steve; Sugar Creek, MO. Two brothers, Bill Shepard, FL.; John Shepard, Grandview, MO; and one sister Katie Crenshaw, Blue Springs, MO. Three grandsons: Steven Covert, Sugar Creek, MO., David Hamilton, Sunrise Beach, MO., Terry Neely, North Kansas City, MO, and one granddaughter, Jill Walraven, Independence, MO., one great grandson, Alfonso Margo, and one great granddaughter, Deonna Margo, both of Independence, MO.
