Robert Dean Nellis

Robert Dean Nellis, 76 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, MO with full military honors. Robert was born September 29, 1946 in Winfield, KS to Gilmer Keith and Peggy Pearl (Jones) Nellis. He had worked as a teacher and a swim coach and had taught in El Dorado, KS and at Ruskin High School. He had proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam. He enjoyed playing bridge and was an American Contract Bridge League Gold Life Master. He was also a member of Broadway Church. He is survived by: his wife, Anne Callihan of the home; 2 daughters, Kathrina Nellis and Amy Bentz; a brother, Kirk Nellis and wife Adell; a sister, Cheryl Wilson and husband Pat; and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Philip Nellis in 2022.
