Brian Todd Nelson
11.06.1963 - 06.24.2022
58 Years, 6 Months, 48 Days ago, parts of this world were set up to change forever. Brian Todd
Nelson was born in Emmett, Idaho to Aleta M (Davis) and Willard Nelson. It would not be long
before he would steal the hearts of those around him becoming a wonderful son, brother,
cousin, and friend to all, even those he did not know well. Immediately getting a taste for
excellence he would earn the rank of Eagle Scout, double rubie in debate, place in the Macy’s
10K, and earn a 20 yr. plaque from his place of work.
Brian graduated from Chrisman High School in 1982 and then the University of Kansas in 1986,
however, he was defined by his thoughtful and kind nature, having his true passion observed by
his constant work for peace and justice - just ask the M.P.’s at the mid-Missouri minuteman
missile silo base and the Nevada nuclear testing sight. He was never one to settle and spent
many hours in record stores culling through hard rock and the latest pop music to find the
radical and unknown music that spoke of these injustices and to his soul. Brian’s endless
patience helped him teach others about his love of frisbee, design and make beautiful pieces in
silversmithing, draw, doodle, and produce art. To know Brian, was to truly know love. He
enjoyed the simple pleasures of life also. Always up for a float down an Idaho canal or the
Spring River in Arkansas, reading, playing trivia games with family and friends, a good cookout,
fixing up his 68 Camaro and driving. He. Loved. To drive. Brian had to have his “driving shirt,”
the tackiest Hawaiian shirt he could find, his doo rag, and his Mau hat, and then any drive was
an epic road trip. The only time he felt righteously free. May this last one be your unequivocally
legendary adventure in freedom.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Jesse Davis, Gerald Fitch, and Bill
Nelson and his grandmother Ethel (Shippy) Nelson. He is survived by his parents Willard and
Aleta M (Davis) Nelson, sister Amy Nelson Lamont (G. Sean), grandmother Retha (Rogers)
(Davis) Fitch, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
