Deanna Lorraine Nelson, a loving mother and grammy, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, November 11, 2021. She was 82. Deanna was born to Joel and Lois Barmore on October 27, 1939 in Independence, Missouri.
Deanna graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1957 then began her career at Lake City Ammunition Plant. She was a secretary for 40 years before retiring in 2000. Deanna was an extremely talented seamstress, enjoyed cooking and wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to listen to live music concerts. She was a collector and liked shopping for treasures at the antique stores. She also took pride in her yard and caring for her beloved rabbits. Most of all though, she enjoyed being a grammy. She always made it a priority to be present to support her family. Deanna didn’t take a day forgranted and her kind spirit will be missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Nelson; grandchildren, Chad French (Britnee Sajdak) and Darcy French; and great granddaughter, Monroe French.
A private family graveside service will be held at Mound Grove Cemetery. Her memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 12-2pm at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, Missouri. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Deanna.
