Alice P. Newhard, 100, of Independence, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8th from 1-2pm with a service to follow at 2:00pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
Alice was born in Independence to George and Edna (Henderson) Pollard. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School and a life-long Independence resident growing up on the Pollard Farm and Apple Orchard. She was a charter member of Susquehanna Baptist Church where she was an active member of the 39ers Club and a Sunday school teacher. Alice was also a member of the Jackson County Extension Club and member of the Turn About Club for over 50 years. Alice is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John. She is survived by her son, Thomas Newhard and his wife, Sharon; daughter Barbara Newhard; grandson, Jeffrey Newhard; and great-grandchildren, Kylie Newhard-Bertram and Grant Newhard, all of Independence.
