Sharon Lee Newhard, of Independence, Missouri, an outgoing woman who was always friendly and never met a stranger, passed away on January 17, 2022. She was 81 years old. Sharon was born on December 27, 1940 in Independence, Missouri, to Forest and Minnie Lee Noland. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1958. Sharon married Thomas Newhard on April 21, 1962, in Independence, Missouri, and to this union a son was born: Jeffrey. She worked as a production planner and started the mail order catalog at Hallmark Cards for 28 dedicated years. Sharon loved the outdoors and traveling with Thomas and their family and many friends all over southern Missouri, especially to Branson. Her family knew her as a huge supporter of her family endeavors and Boy Scouts of America. She was a proud lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, and she will be dearly missed by so many.
Sharon is survived by her husband and love of her life of almost 60 years, Thomas Newhard; son, Jeffrey Newhard; and grandchildren, Kylie (Newhard) Bertram, and Grant Newhard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest, and Minnie Lee Noland.
A visitation to honor Sharon will be held from 12-2:00 p.m., on Friday, January 28, with a funeral service to follow, at 2:00 p.m., both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. She will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Grain Valley, MO. In Sharon’s honor, the family suggests contributions to be made to Maywood Baptist Church Restoration Fund, 10505 E.
