Jimmie D. Newman, 57, of Independence MO, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2003, at St. Luke�s Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, burial Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday September 2, at the chapel. The family suggest contributions to the Eye Foundation of Kansas City; 2300 Holmes Rd.; Kansas City, MO 64114; or The Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation; 404 Portland; Columbia MO, 65203. Mr. Newman was born October 17, 1945 to Don and Gladys Newman in Mount Vernon, MO. He was a devoted Christian who loved his God. Mr. Newman was raised in the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Avilla, MO. He has been an integral part of Jericho Missionary Baptist Church of Independence. Jimmie shared his talents there as a teacher, pianist and singer. He graduated from Missouri Southern State University. Mr. Newman was a controller and owner of Sunny Acres Farms poultry business. Mr. Newman was active in the Water Garden Society, Kansas City Board of Business Owners, Jaycees, United Way,.
the Lions Club, and Kiwanas. He also attended the Music Arts Institute. He was a devoted husband, father, gramps, brother, and son. Jimmie is survived by his wife Kathy, of the home, two daughters, Lori Hadel and her husband Mike; Chandra Newman, both of Overland Park, KS; three brothers, Gary Newman and his wife Sondra, Carthage, MO.; Jerry Newman and his wife Connie, and Jack Newman and his wife Rosann, both of Jasper, MO; one sister, Linda Bartelsmeyer and her husband Bob, Aurora, MO; two grandsons, Zachery and Jacob Hadel, of Overland Park, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
