Jacob Newsom

Jacob Otis Newsom, 91, of KCMO, passed away Mon., Sept. 11, 2017.
He was born in Franklin, MO, on Oct. 3, to Tom and Mary Stangel Newsom. After graduating from New Franklin High School, he enlisted in U.S. Navy and served in WWII where he survived Kamikaze attack on board the USS Morris. He went on to earn an Electrical Engineering degree from Finlay Engineering College. He retired from Honeywell in 1991 after 35 yrs. as maintenance electrician and a member of IBEW Electricians Union 124.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Mary; his sisters Ruby Elmore and Marie Newsom; and his wife, Carmeline Amoroso Newsom.
Jacob is survived by his stepson, Gene Batson; daughter Annette Newsom; grandson Jacob Gill; granddaughter Gina Gill; and sister Clara Wright.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Powell Gardens, KC’s Botanical Garden, 1609 N.W. U.S. HWY 50, Kingsville, MO 64061.
