C.E. NICHOL, JR.


C.E. Nichol, 81, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017. A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Sunday, March 26 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A service will be held at 10am on Monday, March 27 at the chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Washington Forever Cemetery.

C.E. was born on September 17, 1935 in Findley, OH to Chester and Mabel Nichol. He attended Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College. He worked in the fire protection industry for 35 years. He was co-founder of Jayhawk Fire Sprinkler Company. C.E. was an avid Chiefs fan and a season ticket holder for many seasons. He enjoyed motorcycles, camping in his RV, boating, and skiing but most of all loved spending time with his family. While his daughters were in high school he opened his doors to all of their friends. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a member of Mount Washington United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and trustee for many years. He also was a member of Inner City Kiwanis and a Christian Motorcycle Club.

Left behind to cherish his legacy is his wife Nancy of the home; 3 daughters Roberta Lutjen and husband Rick of Blue Springs, MO, Robin Shaffer and husband Randal of Independence, MO, Carolyn Fullerton of Blue Springs, MO; brother David Nichol and wife Betty of Buckner; sister Diane Hall of Kansas City, MO; brother Larry Nichol and wife Cathy of Blue Springs, MO; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer Buys, Roxanne Monroy (Victor), Alissa Braa (Doug), Kristy Lutjen, Cathleen Fullerton, Ross Shaffer (Rita), Cara Fullerton, Joseph Fullerton; 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
