David Lee Nichol Jr., 58, of Independence, MO, unexpectedly passed away peacefully at his home on August 3, 2022.
He dedicated his life to service with joining the Army Reserves in 1983 and then completing the fire academy in 1993. He then tenured an accomplished career at the Independence Fire Department, finishing as a Captain with a total of 26 years of service, retiring April 2020.
He loved to watch the Kansas City Chiefs football as well as play with his grandkids in his spare time sneaking them chocolate chip cookies or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. He enjoyed country music and anything on 101 the Fox. He also loved camping and playing the guitar.
David is survived by his mother, Betty Nichol and his brother Kevin Nichol (Jennefer).
He leaves behind his spouse and love of 31 years, Kathryn, his three children, Elizabeth, Jacob (Kelsey), and Zachary. He also had four grandchildren, Wyatt, Charlotte, Ophelia, and Everest who he loved to tickle, scare, tease, and play with at every opportunity.
Though there are many more family and friends that are left behind and sad to see him pass, he will always be remembered and held close to our hearts.
He is preceded in death by his father, David Lee Nichol Sr. and his in-laws, Carlyle and Joan Partch.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO, 64055, 816-373-3600. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
