Dean William Nichols, Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on November 21st at the age of ninety-four.
Dean (Bill) was born in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Earl and Mary Ann Nichols. He was an administrator in the Missouri Public School System for thirty years, retiring from the Raytown School District. Following retirement, he became a residential real estate appraiser and was the owner of Nichols Real Estate Appraisal Services. He was an avid tennis player for many years, winning many tournaments in both singles and doubles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura Leigh Carlson. He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Linda, and his children; Cecelia Carlson, Debra Kelley (Mark Lee), and Mitchell Kelley (Cynthia); grandsons, Alex Carlson (Amber), Phillip Kelley and Vance Kelley; great-granddaughter, Josie Carlson; sister Mary Sue Vaughan; sister-in-law, Rena McGinnis (Dan), as well as two nieces and their families.
Bill loved his family, his work, friends, and pets. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Bill was a very intelligent man who had an intense interest in the world around him. No gathering at his home was complete without a deep discussion of current events, politics, or both.
His family is grateful for the loving care from the dedicated staff at Missouri Veterans Home-Warrensburg, 1300 Veterans Rd., Warrensburg, MO, 64093, where memorials may be made in his name.
Bill requested that no services be held at his passing and his family will lovingly respect his wishes. Inurnment will be private.
