Penny Lea Nichols, 67 of Grain Valley, MO passed away, Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel. Penny was born March 14, 1949 in Kansas City, MO to William Rayies and Nita Zoe (Eisenhower) Nichols. She worked at IBS Industries, a sheltered workshop for 32 years. After retirement she attended Rainbow Options Care Center for adults with special needs. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. Penny loved Jesus and was known as a prayer warrior. She loved singing, dancing, bowling, being with friends and family. Survivors include; a brother, Steven Nichols and wife Cherie of Spring Hill, KS; a sister, Debra Peerson and husband Mike of Lee’s Summit, MO; a half brother, Robert Nichols and wife Vickie of Broken Arrow, OK and a step brother, Larry Lightfoot and wife Drexel of Jacksonville, FL and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, William Nichols, mother, Nita Lightfoot, step father. Frederick Lightfoot and 2 sisters, Linda Dickinson and JoAnn Poe. Donations may be made in her name to Kansas City Hospice House. The family would like to thank her staff at Nolen Manor and Rainbow Options for their loving care of Penny.
