Sandra Annette “Sandy” (Sydney) Nicolaisen
Sandra Annette (Sydney) Nicolaisen, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She was 61 years of age. Sandy was born on August 17, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Ralph LeRoy Sydney and Verona Louise (Kindle) Sydney. She was the fourth-born of eight children.
Sandy graduated from Hickman Mills High School in 1978. She married Timothy Michael Nicolaisen on April 18, 1987, in Kansas City, Missouri and shortly after moved to Blue Springs, Missouri where they lived for 33 years. To this union were two children, Brandon and Nicole Nicolaisen.
Sandy will be remembered by many as the Office Manager for the office of Dr. L. Russell Matthias where she dedicated 26 years and cultivated many lifelong friendships. She assisted members of the board at the Cleveland Chiropractic College Alumni Association and played an intricate role in the Missouri Chiropractic Physicians Association by planning continued education seminars for chiropractors across the state. She was a person of faith, and she lived a life serving others. Sandy was selfless, kind, and gentle and she treasured all time spent with family, friends, and her faithful dogs. She loved to cook and there wasn’t an evening that passed that she didn’t enjoy a bowl of popcorn, which is a long-time family favorite. Sandy was an avid reader and enjoyed all of Janet Evanovich’s books.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Timothy Nicolaisen; her children, Brandon (Lacie Hollingsworth) Nicolaisen, Nicole Nicolaisen; her grandchildren, Kami, Abram, Zephora; her siblings, Lyn (Marvin Gregg) Mitchell, Tim (Cynthia Johnson) Sydney, Craig Sydney, Victoria Joy, Stan (Amy) Sydney, Jeff (Renee) Sydney and Dreama Sydney; brother-in-law, Tony (Cindy) Nicolaisen; her nieces and nephews, Matt (Lisa) Mitchell, Crystal Gatewood, Austin Sydney, Ashley Sydney, Justin (Shea) Joy, Heather (Joe) Joy-Kent, Cole Sydney, Josie Sydney, Zac (Shelbi Tallent) Sydney, Luke (Kiley Edwards) Sydney, Ryan Laudwig, Sydney Laudwig, Jessica Laudwig; many great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Previously departed loved ones include Sandy’s parents, Ralph and Verona Sydney.
A visitation and service celebrating Sandy’s life will be held Saturday, March 19 2022, family will greet guest between the hours of 1-2 pm., at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2pm.
