Janet Lee Nippes, age 84,of Independence, Missouri, passed away surrounded by her closest loved ones while holding the hand of her loving husband on January 19, 2017. Janet was born in Satana, Kansas on August 25, 1932. She was the daughter of Nola and Wilbur Yarbrough and the sister of Eugene Yarbrough. She was married on June 1, 1952 in Greeley, Colorado to the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Warren E Nippes, who survives her. Janet lived primarily in Missouri and Colorado. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, Order of the Eastern Star and was a 27 year federal civil servant with the Internal Revenue Service. She was a devoted Christian who attended Sycamore Hills Baptist Church and a tireless volunteer. Above all she was a deeply beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother .She is survived by her husband Warren Nippes and she was the proud mother of two daughters whom she loved dearly, Mary Waite and Connie Alfano. She was the loving grandmother of four, Jeremy Alfano, Joseph Alfano, Megan Alfano and Mark Waite and a caring aunt to John Yarbrough, Lisa Schmahl and the best great-grandmother to six. She was an inspiration to and will be eternally missed by all. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church, Independence, Missouri, services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor William Davis presiding. Burial will follow services at Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
