Norman Noland

April 15, 1923 — November 8, 2012

Norman Asbury Noland 89, of Independence, MO passed away Thu. Nov. 8, 2012 at the Independence, Rehab Center. He was born Apr. 15, 1923 in Independence, MO to Thomas and Fern (Halleran) Noland. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1941, after graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force. He served as an Air Force Liaison Pilot in Europe during WWII. Among some of the Staff Commanders he flew was General George Patton. He received the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster. Flying was always a part of his life and he enjoyed flying his own plane where ever he lived. He returned to Independence after his discharge and worked as an electrician and member of the IBEW local #124 in Kansas City. Upon his retirement he lived in various parts of the USA and settle in Neosho, MO for 25 years. He married Marion Seymour on her birthday, Feb 2, 1964 and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2002. Though he had no children, he was a great uncle Norman to all his nieces and nephews who always looked forward to spending quality time with him. He is survived by his brother Tom (Rose) Noland and two sisters, Julia Chryst of McLean, VA and Frances (Edward) Lowe of Orlando, FL. At Norman’s request, no services are planned.
