Lewis Nordike

Lewis E. Nordike, 87, of Independence, MO passed away May 27, 2018. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. The Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Burial will full Military Honors will take place in Floral Hills Cemetery. Lewis was born on March 7, 1931 one of 5 sons born to Clinton and Gladys (Ward) Nordike. After high school Lewis proudly served his country in the Navy. After his tour of duty was completed he moved his young and growing family to Independence, MO. Lewis had been a charter member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church since the day it was built! He had been employed with AT&T for over 46 years, retiring as a supervisor in 2000. Lewis along with his wife enjoyed square dancing in their spare time. Survivors include; daughter Diana Hamel; daughter Debra Nordike; daughter Sharon Echols; son Bryan Nordike and wife Robin; son Allan Nordike and wife Gilla; son Mark Nordike and wife Kristen; daughter Kimberly Nordike and wife Candace; brothers Donald and Frankie Nordike; 22 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a large extended family and many friends. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, wife Gertrude Nordike; sons Gary and Bruce Nordike, and brothers Robert and Lloyd Nordike. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
