Clyde W. Noren, 88, Independence, MO went to be with the Lord on Dec. 7, 2013. Services will be 10 am, Wed., Dec. 11 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Pre-Columbian Studies Institute, P.O. Box 477, Independence, MO 64051. Clyde was born in Taylorville, IL to John and Anna (Bill) Noren. He was a serious young man and a good student. He played baseball, basketball and football and graduated as Valedictorian in 1943. After graduation he joined the Navy and was sent to OCS School at Cornell University, was assigned to the USS Astoria shortly before the end of WW II and attained the rank of Lieutenant. On July 12, 1945, Clyde married his high school sweetheart, Clara Margaret Walton. After the war, he returned to school and received a B.S.M.E. from Bradley University. He used his education to begin his career in electrical power plants. He was a certified professional engineer in Indiana and Missouri. He retired as the superintendent of the Kaw Plant for the B.P.U. in Kansas City, KS. Clyde was an Elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was always available to help others. He leaves his wife of sixty-eight years, C. Margaret Noren, of the home; son Dr. John W. Noren and wife Jean, Blue Springs, MO; daughters Jane M. Farnsworth and husband Neil, Scottsdale, AZ; Jeri A. Sindt and husband Arlan, Cameron, MO; sister Shirley Webb, Monahans, TX; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren living throughout the world.
