Reba Wilson Norfleet, 90 of Independence, MO passed away Thur. Oct. 16, 2003 at the Rosewood Health Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Sat. Oct. 18, 2003 at the George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm, Friday at the funeral home. Reba was born July 23, 1913 in Iberia, Missouri to Victor and Blanche Groves Wilson. She grew up in the Kansas City area. On August 20, 1933 she married David Ray Norfleet of Eugene, MO. Ray preceeded her in death in 1988. Reba and Ray moved to Independence in 1935. She was a former member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Temple in Kansas City, member of the Watson Memorial Methodist Church and current member of Christ United Methodist Church in Independence, where she had been a member of the Sunshine Club. She had worked at the JC Penney Store when it first opened at the Blue Ridge Mall, and she also worked at Lake City Ammunitions Plant as an inspector, during the Vietnam War. However, she was first and foremost a Homemaker. She loved to crochet and had made many, many afghans for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of family and love of cooking and entertaining. Family and friends will all miss that "Norfleet Kitchen.� Reba and Ray were blessed with two children, Shirley Hamilton and husband Jerry of Springfield, MO and Ron Norfleet and wife Dawn of Lee�s Summit, MO. These families also provided her with the joys of her life, her four grandchildren, who morn the loss of their NaNa, Gregg Harris and wife Laurie of Jefferson City, MO, Mitch Norfleet and wife Mary of Gretna, NE, Holly Scheer and husband Randy of Springfield, MO and Shauna Machado and husband, John of Catalina Island, CA. In addition, she leaves seven precious great-grandchildren, Lindsey Harris, Geoff Harris, Alex Harris, Hayley Scheer, Andrew Scheer, Dylan Norfleet and Shane Machado. She also leaves her seven dearly loved step-grandchildren Lisa Bycroft, Lori Hendrix, Mark, Matthew and Mike Tweedie, Michelle Canon and Misty Smith and nine step-great grandchildren. Reba leaves a legacy of loving service to others, to her children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
