Norma Frances Waymire

January 22, 1930 — January 8, 2025

Lee's Summit

Norma Waymire’s long life came to an end on January 8, 2025. Norma will be remembered as a talented, smart, caring, and strong woman. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her hope was that you celebrate her long life and take comfort in the fact that she is joining many loved ones that have gone before her.

She was born on January 22, 1930, at her family home outside of Ottawa, KS. Her parents were George and Fay Page. She had one older brother, Harlan, and two younger brothers, Keith and Jack. The family lived on a dairy farm that involved lots of hard work and creating many happy memories.

On September 18, 1949, she married the love of her life, Don Waymire. They started their family two years later with the birth of their son, Mark. He was followed by Susan and then Bruce. Three kids in four years kept them very busy. Norma should be revered for her patience and sense-of-humor because elaborate practical jokes were a regular part of the Waymire household.

Those years flew by, and they had many good times boating with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks, Kaw River, and Pomona Lake. Norma enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and playing card games with friends. After retirement, Don and Norma enjoyed traveling the world.

In 2012, Don and Norma lost both of their sons. Mark in February and Bruce in April. Don passed away the following year in June from colon cancer. Later that year, Norma left the house that Don and she shared for 57 years to move to John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO to be closer to her daughter. It was a difficult period of life, but Norma adjusted and made many new friends.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Susan, and son-in-law, Mark Crowley, six grandchildren, nine-great grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

She is joining those who have preceded her in death: her husband, Don, sons Mark and Bruce, her parents George and Fay, and her brothers Harlan, Keith, and Jack.
