Mary Diane Norman, of Independence, MO, poetry writer, romantic spirit and grandma to everyone, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020. She was 68.
Mary entered this world on January 18, 1952 in Southern California, the child of Lewis and Anne (Thomas) Scott. In 1970, she graduated from Truman High School. She went on to obtain her Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Hamilton Business School.
In 1984, she married her beloved husband Mike Norman. Mary was an accountant and later retiring as Controller overseeing operations at Banister Mall. She was an advocate of the Three Trails Development Project and an active member of the Chamber of Commerce of South Kansas City. She was also a member of the Remnant Church of Latter Day Saints.
Mary loved reading and writing poetry, the Beatles and Rolling Stones and her time spent in Hawaii. But what Mary loved most was spending time and caring for her grandchildren and those she considered her own.
Mary leaves behind her husband, Mike; children, BranDee, Becky, Chris and Sara; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Scott; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kelly Anne.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at Blue Springs Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; 5555 Valley View Rd., Blue Springs, MO.
