Robert “Bob” Michael Norris passed away peacefully in his home after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Independence Missouri at the age of 73. Robert was born on December 21, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to Richard Bertell Norris and Opal Marie (Coombs) Thompson Norris. He married Donna Kay Sayers, his high school sweetheart on October 5, 1963. Robert worked for General Motors for Thirty years before retiring. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 93. The couple was married for 54 years and had 3 children. Robert enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. He liked to sing and do karaoke. He liked to listen to old time rock n' roll and country music and most of all he loved to spend time with his family. Robert is survived by his wife, Donna Kay (Sayers) Norris of the home, Independence, Missouri; his 2 daughters, Kelly Spitler and husband Kenneth of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Stacy Bonthius and husband Darin of Independence, Missouri; his siblings, John Norris of Buckner, Missouri, Kathleen Peters and husband Pete of Belton, Texas, Martin Norris and wife Raetta of Climax Springs, Missouri, Harold Thompson of Kansas; 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Opal Norris, his son Robert Michael Norris Jr., 2 sisters and 1 brother, Beatrice, Carol, and Charles. A Visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 14, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 East 39th St S. Independence, Missouri 64055.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel
