Mary Martha Northrup (Knauf)

Mary M. Northrup, 79, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 after her battle with cancer. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, October 24,2016 at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner MO 64016. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at Buckner Hill Cemetery. Mary was born July 27, 1937 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Fred and Lela Knauf. She was baptized in the RLDS Church in Buckner, MO and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible School. She was known for the beautiful cakes she decorated. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching hummingbirds and loved to watch Kansas City Royals baseball. Mary had one true love from her teenage years throughout her life. He was the father of her children. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fred Knauf and mother-in-law Bernice Gibson. She is survived by son Gordon Northrup and wife Tammy, Lee’s Summit, MO; daughters Mary “Janie” Copenhaver and Christina Lucier, both of Blue Springs, MO; brother Jerry Knauf; sister Beverly Conoley, both of Independence, MO; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren
