Bobbie Jahliel (Bob) Nossaman, 86, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed peacefully from this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19th, 2020.
Bob was born March 25, 1934, to Roy and Ethel (Yarberry) Nossaman in Cunningham, KS. Bob graduated high school in 1951 in Isabel, KS., then went on to marry Betty Berry in 1954. From this union, four sons were born: Larry, David, Robert and Doug. He earned his B.S. degree from Harding College in 1955 in Searcy, AR and an M.S. at the University of South Dakota. Bob taught school for many years in Iowa and Kansas and at York College in York, NE. He also worked in quality assurance for Protein Technologies division of Ralston Purina in Memphis, TN and St. Louis, MO.
Bob preached and taught Bible classes for over 50 years at congregations throughout the Midwest. He was a great volunteer, encourager, coach, and mentor to young and old alike. He was a gifted athlete as a young man and even played ball into his 60s. Bob was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed playing golf for many years. He relaxed by gardening and taking care of his yard. His favorite Scripture, which he loved to share with family, was Romans 8:38-39: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty (Berry) Nossaman, his parents, and by a sister, Beth Nossaman Barker. He is survived by a sister Rita Nossaman Rhodes, sister-in-law Faye (Berry) Adkins and husband Jim, and by four sons born to Bob and Betty: Larry and wife Susan (Horsman) of Lee’s Summit; David and wife Emily (Bahler) of Olathe, KS; Robert and wife Sherry (Reed) of Benton, AR; and Doug and wife Kristin (Pinson) of Hurricane, WV. He is also survived by daughter-in-law Rebecca Nossaman, 10 remarkable grandchildren: Kaylynn, Aaron, Jonathan, Timothy, Lucas, Kyle, Davis, Paige, Isaac, and Matthew; and by five amazing great-grandchildren: Locke, Ezra, Beatrice, Ruby and Phoebe.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at the East Independence Church of Christ, 2020 S. 291 Hwy, Independence, MO 64057. Burial will be in the Maud Cemetery near Cunningham, KS, at a later date.
