Jean was born March 26, 1945 in St. Louis, MO and grew up in Overland, MO. She was a proud graduate of Ritenour High School's class of 1963. Jean cherished her children above all and took great pride in her accomplishments as a mother. She instilled an everlasting commitment of family to her children; which they honor and continue to pass down to her grandchildren. Jean was the catalyst and energy behind many of the groups she belonged to. Most notably a bunco group that met monthly for 33 years. She was an avid reader and attended monthly book clubs, always ready with a book suggestion. She loved the beauty and tranquility of gardens and found joy in the abundant colors of all flowers. Jean was known as a fantastic cook. Friends near and far knew she was the best resource to ask about any recipe. Her passions outside of family included playing tennis, gardening, and supported strong conservative views. Jean was married to her high school sweetheart, Nick Nothoff for 47 years. She and Nick spent time traveling Europe between 1964-67 while stationed in Germany. She had always treasured memories of her time spent in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Jean is survived by her daughter, Kristin Strickland and husband Michael of Springfield, MO; son Nicholas A. Nothoff III and wife Cameron Nothoff of Winston-Salem, NC; brother James M. Hodge; grandchildren Sarah Jean, Jessica Anne and Nicholas Andrew IV; along with many nieces and nephews.
