Nicholas “Nick” A. Nothoff, Jr., 67, resident of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away September 27, 2012. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 2pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Nick was born December 12, 1944 in St. Louis, MO. He grew up in Overland, MO and graduated from Ritenour High School. He achieved his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Nick worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for twenty-seven years and held the title of Director of Sales during his employment. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, camp and golf. He was a member of the Missouri Trout Fisherman’s Association and was an expert at tying his own flies; some tied out of fur donated by his beloved hounds. Nick was a storyteller and could entertain friends forever around a campfire. He enjoyed cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri Tigers. Nick was a Veteran and achieved a rank of E-5 (Staff Sergeant) while serving our country in the United States Air Force.
Nick is survived by his wife of forty-seven years Jean L. Nothoff, of the home; daughter Kristin Strickland and husband Michael of Kennewick, WA; son Nicholas A. Nothoff, III of Winston-Salem, NC; sister Andrea Morrissey and brother-in-law Bob of St. Peters, MO; grandchildren Sarah Jean and Jessica Anne Strickland and many nieces and nephews.
