Dick Nottage, age 81, of Sugar Creek, passed away August 12, 2005.
Mr. Nottage was born January 23, 1924, in Florida. His parents were Richard D. and Minnie (Marhanka) Nottage. The family lived in LaPorte, Indiana, for most of his childhood. As a youth, he earned the Boy Scouts� Eagle Award.
Mr. Nottage married Frances Bruson of Sugar Creek on February 9, 1946 and the couple was planning a 60th wedding anniversary prior to his final illness.
He was a career employee of the Standard Oil/Amoco refinery in Sugar Creek and an active member of the Amoco Retiree�s Club.
The Nottages were active members of St. Ann�s Catholic Church in Sugar Creek where Dick had served as an usher.
Dick was an avid golfer, serving as a marshall for many years at the Crackerneck Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing and bowling, serving as secretary for several leagues over the years. He and Mrs. Nottage also entertained themselves with visits to some of the local casinos.
He served in the United States Army as an engineer with the Signal Corps in the Southwest Pacific for three years during World War II.
Mr. Nottage is survived by his wife Frances, and three children: daughters Barbara Wood of Lawrence, KS, and Kathleen Minner of Independence; and a son Richard J. Nottage of Kansas City, and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann�s Church or Sugar Creek Civic Relief Fund.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m Tuesday, August 16, at St. Ann�s Catholic Church. A recitation of the rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 West Lexington. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery.
