Joseph "Bob� Robert O�Brien, 74, of Independence, MO passed away on April 11, 2006. Bob was born on April 7, 1932 in St. Louis, MO. He married Lorraine Formento on June 4, 1955 in Washington, D.C. and lived in Mexico, MO before moving to Sugar Creek, MO in 1966. Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Airman 1st Class. He was a private insurance adjuster before retiring in 1989. He was active at St. Mary�s Catholic Church as a lector, reader, Eucharistic minister and an usher, as well as the Boy Scouts Troop 221, Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, and an ambassador at the Independence Regional Health Center. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, camping, dancing with his wife and laughing. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorraine (Formento) O�Brien; four children, Joseph Robert O�Brien, Jr. and Terri, Karen (O�Brien) Grissom and Todd, Kathleen (O�Brien) Johnson and Steve, and John Patrick O�Brien and Sunsia; 12 grandchildren, Robert Scott Grissom, Christie Marie O�Brien, Kelley Ann O�Brien, Angela Nicole Grissom, Kyle Wayne Edwards, Joseph Michael O�Brien, Patrick Kenneth O�Brien, Curtis Brian Edwards, Jace Conner O�Brien, Colin Michael O�Brien, Mason Patrick O�Brien and Seth Tanner O�Brien. A visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, with a prayer service preceding it at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary�s Catholic Church, Independence, MO. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Food Pantry at St. Mary�s Catholic Church.
