STANLEY EUGENE OGAN
Stanley Eugene Ogan, 68, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, August 30 2013. A visitation will be held 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3rd at Carson Speaks Chapel. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4th 2013 at the chapel. Burial will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
Gene was born August 15th 1945 in Sullivan County, MO to Vernon and Leona (Hodges) Ogan as one of four children. He graduated from Raytown High School where he played football. Gene was a proud Boy Scout achieving Eagle Scout Honors and participating in Mic-O-Say. Gene also served in the Army in Vietnam. He graduated with Master’s in Safety and Industrial Relations from Central Missouri State University. Afterwards, he worked for many years as Safety Director for Missouri Public Service (now KCP&L) and was President of the American Society of Safety Engineers 1982-83. Gene was an outdoorsman who also enjoyed riding his motorcycle cross country and rooting for his favorite KC Chiefs as season ticket holder. He was most proud of his son and grandchildren. His family remembers him with love.
Gene is survived by son, Greg Ogan and wife Stephanie of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Marilyn and Parker; brother Steve Ogan and wife Amy of Pleasant Hill, MO; sister, Judy Branstetter of Kirksville, MO; nieces, Misty, Marcy, Leigh Ann, Sue, Ashleigh, and Karleigh; nephew, Josh; and six great nieces and nephews whom he all loved. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon Lee Ogan, Jr.; and niece, Jessica Ogan.
