Virgil L. O’Hara, Sr., 62, Independence, MO passed away March 7, 2019. Services will be 2:00 pm, Sat., March 16 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the chapel.
Virgil was born July 1, 1956 in Lonedell, MO and grew up in Troy, MO. He was an auto mechanic for O’Hara’s Auto Repair in Hillsboro, MO before moving to Independence, MO. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He liked working on puzzles, working on cars, riding motorcycles and four-wheeling. Most of all he loved raising his children and spending time with his family. Virgil was preceded in death by brother Vernon O’Hara and his wife Barbara, brother Victor O’Hara and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Molly O’Hara, of the home; ex-wife Veronica Barnhill, DeSoto, MO; son Virgil O’Hara, Jr. and wife Kristi, DeSoto, MO; daughter Vicky Bedsworth and husband Tom, Independence, MO; sons Vernon O’Hara, DeSoto, MO; Vince O’Hara and wife Brandy, Hillsboro, MO; step-son Dennis Hantelmann; step-daughter Shelly Rodgers, both of Dubuque, IA; brother Vincent O’Hara and wife, Maquota, IA; sisters Verna Williams and husband George, Fenton, MO; Viola Meuller and husband Steve, Helena, MT; nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
