Violet “Vi” Marie O’Keefe, 80, of Lee’s Summit, MO went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 14, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO, 64055. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery with a luncheon to immediately follow the burial at St. Mark’s.
Violet was born on January 13, 1938 in Stover, MO to Willie and Alvine (Ehlers) Viebrock. She graduated from Cole Camp High School and received a B.S. in Elementary Education and her Master’s degrees from CMSU. Vi served as a dedicated 3rd grade teacher in the Raytown School District for 34 years, 33 of those years in the same classroom. She worked tirelessly to educate and develop the youth in the community. On July 4, 1992 she wed Michael J. O’Keefe at Lady of Good Counsel in Kansas City, MO. Together they shared a loving, wonderful life and a passion for travel, exploring many beautiful cities both here and abroad. Vi was an avid fan of the Chief’s and Royal’s. Violet’s grace, elegance, and loving heart will make her greatly missed by all those she knew, especially her husband.
She is survived by her husband Mike; stepson Matthew O’Keefe of Las Vegas, NV and step granddaughter Rachael O’Keefe of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers Arnold and Vernon Viebrock; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, LeRoy Viebrock.
